Respectful Workplace Policy

Workplace Bullying & Harassment

If anyone, including fellow members, managers or exempt employees, engages in bullying or harassing behaviour, please report it to HR and, if necessary, WorkSafeBC.

Bullying and harassing behaviour can include:

  • Verbal, or yelling
  • Humiliating initiation practices or hazing
  • Spreading malicious rumours
  • Calling someone derogatory names
  • Any other inappropriate conduct or comment that would cause someone to feel humiliated or intimidated
IF WE DON’T REPORT IT, THE WORKPLACE WON’T CHANGE AND IMPROVE!

Bullying and harassing behaviour doesn’t include:

  • Expressing differing opinions
  • Offering constructive feedback, guidance or advice about work-related behaviour
  • Reasonable actions taken by an employer or supervisor to manage and direct workers or the workplace (e.g., managing a worker’s performance, taking reasonable disciplinary actions, assigning work)

When you submit a form, please include the Shop Steward Lead in the CC field.

If the employer doesn’t respond to your concern about bullying and harassing behaviour, or if you don’t see any response from them, please report it to WorkSafeBC. If we don’t report it and follow up, our work environment won’t get better. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect at work and everywhere! We’ve heard many stories from the picket lines, and we need to make sure people are held accountable, so these things don’t happen again.
